Frequently Asked Questions
About Health Coaching
What is health coaching?
Health coaching is a way of helping people make long-lasting positive changes to their health and wellness. Rather than telling you what to do, a health coach works alongside you, providing knowledge, accountability, and support on your journey.
Where are sessions conducted?
Coaching sessions can be conducted in-person at Long Bay Osteopaths, via zoom or over the phone.
What areas do you specialise in?
I work with women who are trying to find their baseline wellness, as well as those struggling with stress, burnout, and fatigue. Within this, we explore your diet, sleep, movement, and lifestyle to bring you back into alignment.
How long does it take to see change?
This is highly individual, and a lot of factors can come into play. Some people just need to be pointed in the right direction and make rapid changes, while others might need to course-correct a few times before their new habits stick. The more effort you put in, the better outcome you’ll see.
What diet do you recommend?
Beyond a bountiful, wholefood diet I will not push you down any dietary path. We’re all different and what works for one person may not work for another. However, I will strongly encourage you to lean into your intuition and listen to the cues that your body is sending you when it comes to the food you are eating.
What don’t you do?
Although I am schooled in many forms of diets, therapies, and ways of wellness I am not qualified to prescribe you a dietary plan, support you through serious trauma work, or give medical advice. If I feel that what you need is outside of my scope, I will make recommendations for you to see more suited-practitioners. I may suggest blood tests or supplements that you can talk to your healthcare provider about.
What can I expect from a health coaching session?
Our coaching journey is broken into several parts.
Free chat - This is an initial 15-minute chat so that I can get a brief overview of your health goals and the support you’ll need. You get to ask questions, and we see if we’re a good fit.
Initial consultation – During this time we take a deep dive into your wellness. Before your appointment, I will ask you to fill out an in-depth health history questionnaire, and then we’ll discuss where you’re at now and what your goals are.
Follow-up consultations – We meet on a fortnightly basis, discuss your progress, and create new goals. I will also be available for email + text support during our time together.
Final consultation – My goal is for you to leave feeling like you’re back in control! Our coaching time together usually ends quite organically but you are always welcome to book in for one-off sessions if you feel you need support.
