Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect from a session?
Here at Long Bay Osteo we allow between 30-45 minutes per treatment session. The initial consultation involves a thorough case history, examination and treatment, with some possible exercise prescription if needed. Follow up appointments for the same injury typically involves a check in to gauge progress, with a stronger focus on the treatment and exercise aspects.
What should I bring to a session?
Any relevant documentation or X-ray imaging that may be related to the presenting complaint.
What should I wear?
Loose clothing or active wear is preferable. This allows me to treat without being restricted by tight and stiff clothing.
Will I be required to undress?
Occasionally I may ask you to remove a layer of clothing in order to get a better look at how your body is moving and for more effective treatment of the area. However, this can be discussed during the session and will only occur if you feel comfortable doing so.
Do I need a referral to see an Osteopath?
No, you do not need a referral to book in for treatment
How does it work with ACC?
As osteopaths, we are able help you to register a claim with ACC if your injury is due to a recent accident. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for ACC, feel free to get in touch and we can discuss.
